Josh Turner concert

On Saturday Michael and I went to a Josh Turner concert.  The concert was a fund raiser for McLain Christian Academy in Lebanon, TN; my friend Bethany goes to church with the headmaster from McLain and told us about the concert – she knows how much I love Josh Turner!

The concert was held at The Mill in Lebanon.  I only saw a little as we walked in but it looks like a really pretty place to have weddings or events.  You had the option to buy a more expensive ticket so you could sit at one of these tables and eat dinner during the performances.  We opted to get the general admission tickets and eat ahead of time.  We met Bethany and Jon at Demos (at 4:30 in order to get to the concert on time – we felt like such old people!) for supper and then went to the concert.  Our seats weren’t at tables but they were still good and we were able to see everything really well.

It was definitely unlike any other concert I’ve been to.  I would guess that most of the people there were students, parents, grandparents, and friends of MCA and many of them were probably just there to support the school.  The crowd wasn’t quite as lively  but we still had a good time.

welcome from the headmaster

two MCA students sang first

Next Jason Lee McKinney (third from the left in the picture above) and Richie McDonald (far left) sang – they were both on the stage but would alternate songs.  I’ve never of or heard anything by Jason Lee McKinney but I did know of Richie McDonald – he was the lead singer of Lonestar.  He sang a few Lonestar songs (Front Porch Looking In, Amazed) so that was fun.

Then Sal Gonzalez (third from the left) and Kevin Denney (second from the left) sang.  I didn’t know either of them or recognize their songs but they were pretty good.

A lady named Mandy Barnett performed but I forgot to take a picture of her.  I wasn’t really impressed with her songs anyway.

Joey + Rory (a husband and wife duo) performed, along with their daughter (on the left).  I didn’t recognize them by name but I did know one of their songs – Cheater, Cheater.  They were really good!  I hope to hear more stuff from them on the radio soon.

They also sang a song called “It’s hard to be cool in a minivan”  - I thought it was pretty funny

Finally it was time for Josh Turner!! Yay!!

It was so great!  He sounded amazing!  He sang Would You Go With Me, which is one of my favorites (and the song that Michael and I walked out to after we were married) so that made my night :)

Fun times!
